First Time Homebuyer Assistance Program – NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
This is a loan program that provides flexible second mortgages to help families with funds for the down payment to purchase their first home in the unincorporated areas of Placer County. The First Time Homebuyer Assistance Program loan can help make mortgage payments more affordable. Loans are available on a first-come/first-serve basis for qualified applicants. Workforce Housing Preservation Program – ACCEPTING EAST PLACER APPLICATIONS ONLY
The Workforce Housing Preservation Program is a homebuyer assistance program designed to secure the county’s existing housing inventory for the local workforce who work in the Tahoe-Truckee area of Placer County. The program provides homebuyers up to 15% of a down payment (based on available funding) in exchange for deed restricting their home so that it can only be occupied by local workers. Check out the New Zoning Tool!
On Monday, September 13th, the County launched an online zoning platform, Gridics, to provide residents and property owners real-time, clear information on the county’s zoning code to provide clarity about what uses are currently allowed on any property in unincorporated Placer County. Adopted 2021-2029 Housing Element
On May 11, 2021, the Board of Supervisors adopted an updated Housing Element for the 2021-2029 eight year planning period. To view the new Housing Element, click here.

Housing Annual Report
Placer County recently completed its annual report on the housing activities it has undertaken to in the past year (July 2020 – July 2021). You can view the report here. Placer County supports HomeShare American River and Placer People of Faith Together who are creating a program where individuals and homeowners can rent extra rooms to screened applicants.
