Transient Occupancy Tax Deferral

The proposal to defer Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) remittance was passed 5-0 by the Placer County Board of Supervisors.
In response to the COVID-19 emergency and its impact on the operators of lodging facilities, NLTRA worked with county staff to propose the suspension of
penalties and interest on an interim basis until July 31, 2020 for any previously unremitted TOT collected during the third quarter of fiscal year 19/20 (January 1, 2020 to March 31, 2020). Read more.

COVID Property Tax Penalty Relief

California Governor, Gavin Newsom, signed an executive order to waive the 10% penalty on late residential and small business property tax payments for those unable to pay on time due to the coronavirus crisis.
The waiver for residential property taxes will extend through next May. Businesses required to file an annual property tax statement will have until the end of the month to file an extension from a May 7 deadline.  Learn more.

Short-term Rental Permit Deadline Extension

In light of the COVID-19 outbreak and in recognition of Resort closures, the deadline to obtain a Short-Term Rental Permit has been extended to July 31, 2020.
The online registration platform is available for electronic submittals. County staff may be working from home and not immediately available to answer any questions. However, if you leave a message at the STR phone number 530-581-6234 or via email at, staff will respond when they can.
